Pradella Developments have received development approval for their revitalisation of the Skyneedle site in South Brisbane. The Skyneedle is a prominent landmark of the Brisbane skyline which makes this project of particular significance to the Brisbane community.
Although a landmark site, the Skyneedle precinct has been in need of revitalisation. The new development will have two residential towers of 12-storeys each, built over a two-storey basement carpark. The podium level will provide a public food and dining area around the Skyneedle and provide a walk through link from Manning Street to Edmondstone Street.
Calibre was engaged as the civil and structural engineers for the development. Careful planning of the basement and bored pier foundations was required adjacent to the Skyneedle tower to ensure the new basement construction did not impact on the tower’s foundations.
Calibre brings extensive experience in developing the Brisbane area, and coordinating and negotiating with the Brisbane City Council, to this project. The Calibre team will deliver a broad scope of services, most prominently featuring complex civil and structural engineering required for this landmark development.
