Brockman 4 Direct Loco Control

Driving autonomous train loading to optimise performance.
Calibre QuadR developed and commissioned the direct loco control (DLC) programmable logic controller (PLC) and SCADA software to be implemented for the DLC system for Brockman 4.
DLC controls the locomotive from the loading facilities without a driver on board. As the train approaches the loading facilities the control is transferred and the system automates the functions of loading or unloading to control and optimise system performance.

Greater automation for improved operations
Works included the procurement of PLC hardware, input into the design activities with the rail loop designers, development of a functional specification, and the on-site commissioning and testing of the DLC system.
Successful project implementation allowed for greater plant automation reducing the burden on operators and enabling improved plant availability by maintaining consistent speeds and train loading.
