Leith Flood Protection Scheme
Otago Regional Council
Dunedin, New Zealand
A multi-staged project that involves a series of engineering modifications along the length of the Leith to control floodwaters and help reduce the likelihood of it overflowing and spreading throughout the city.
The Water of Leith flows 14km through Dunedin and has the potential to severely damage property on the floodplain. Otago Regional Council manages the risk and impact of flooding through the Leith Protection Scheme. Calibre is a key project partner and has provided civil and structural design, construction monitoring and project management services for the past six years. Calibre’s collaborative and proactive approach to partnering with ORC and the contractor has helped mitigate the impact of a number of challenges on site and deliver a successful project outcome for all stakeholders.
