Calibre Group Announces the Sale of its Built Environment Division to Egis Group

Following a firm-wide strategic review, Calibre Group is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to sell Calibre Built Environment, an end-to-end sustainable engineering and consulting services provider across Australia and New Zealand, to Egis Group, a global consulting and engineering services firm with over €1.16bn in annual turnover. This transaction allows Calibre Built Environment to join a fast-growing and highly complementary delivery platform in the region.

Calibre’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Peter Massey, commented “We would like to thank the Calibre Built Environment management team for their hard work and dedication to the firm over the past 10 years. The Built Environment division has developed into a leading end-to-end sustainable engineering services provider across Australia and New Zealand, and the acquisition by Egis Group provides an exciting opportunity for the next growth chapter of the company. Egis Group is a highly successful global consulting and engineering services firm who are a natural and complementary owner of Calibre Built Environment.”

Egis Group’s ANZ Managing Director, Alex Yee, commented “We are delighted to welcome Calibre Built Environment to the Egis family. We have a common focus on our people, our responsibilities to the planet and the community, and the creation of the sustainable cities of the future. At its heart Egis prides itself on the technical skills of our people and teams, and Calibre Built Environment’s market leading position in urban development, buildings, structures, transport and utilities engineering across Australia and New Zealand together with Egis’s globally recognised major project capabilities reinforce our unique end-to-end services offering and our ability to Impact the Future. Egis has been present in the Australasian markets approaching 40 years and Egis’s strategic acquisition of Calibre Built Environment is a new chapter in the Egis story and demonstrates our continued commitment to this dynamic region.”

The transaction is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, and, subject to satisfaction of those conditions, is expected to complete by calendar year-end. Greenhill and Ashurst advised Calibre Group on the transaction.
