Calibre helps deliver sustainable energy at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Calibre’s Sustainability Solutions team helps client’s source renewable energy options that makes financial sense to them and reduces their overall emissions.

One of these clients is Brisbane’s much loved tourist attraction Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary which is home to many native animals that require climate-controlled environments. This large demand for energy motivated Lone Pine to source efficiency alternatives. Along with other green initiatives, geothermal systems were identified as a genuine alternative that would reduce Lone Pine’s energy consumption thus reducing its carbon footprint and its reliance on fossil fuels.

According to Lone Pine’s Amy Swinn, “The geothermal and solar projects have definitely paid off as we’ve seen a 50% reduction in energy usage and costs over the past four years and a reduction in CO₂ emissions by 20 tonnes per year.”
