Calibre partners with Frasers Property at award winning Fairwater community
Calibre is proud to partner with leading property developer, Frasers Property Australia in the progressive roll out of residential ground source heat pumps at Fairwater, one of the country’s most environmentally friendly developments.
Situated in Blacktown in Sydney’s west, Fairwater is the largest geothermal community in the southern hemisphere with over 14,000 kW of heating and cooling with the technology accessible to every one of the approximately 850 homes onsite.
An environmental first for new communities in Australia when it was unveiled at Fairwater in 2014, the geothermal technology saves significant energy compared to traditional air conditioning systems, with the potential to save residents on average up to 60% in heating and cooling energy costs.
Mark Langdon, Business Unit Leader, Sustainability Solutions who has been involved in this project from its inception, said the Fairwater project was a natural fit for Calibre’s new sustainability offering.
“We strive for energy productivity and carbon reduction on all projects and Fairwater demonstrates both,” Mr Langdon said.
“Geothermal has made a real difference at Fairwater. The geothermal system is well hidden and external equipment is barely noticeable, but makes a huge difference to the environment, resident’s energy costs as well as their comfort,” he said.
The project has already distinguished itself, having won the outstanding recognition of a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia - the first in New South Wales.
The project’s expected completion date is 2023.
