St Hilda's School
Ministry of Education
This project involved the construction of a new complex at St Hilda’s School. The impressive structure houses two indoor sports halls and a multi-purpose hall, as well as one of Singapore’s first competition class roof-top hockey fields (17m above ground).
The column-free multi-purpose hall features a post-tensioned system with beam system of 37m span and columns free standing height of 11m. The complex provides facilities for the school, sports and social functions and will become the centre for these activities around the regional neighbourhood.
In addition, the old school hall has been converted into a two-storey teacher staff room and resource centre by using lightweight steelwork. The school internal and entry/exit traffic flow has also been re-assessed, revamped and improved. This provides safe passage for school children and minimum congestion during peak hours.
The project was successfully carried out in an operating school over six years. It was completed as part of the Ministry of Education's initiative to upgrade school infrastructure throughout Singapore.
