Kenepuru Landing is a master planned 900 residential dwelling development of surplus hospital board land, 10 minutes walk from Porirua’s CBD. It will incorporate a significant medium density and affordable housing component, excellent streetscapes, storm water treatment and attenuation, walking, cycling and parks, all to create a high level of urban amenity.
Calibre is working with Kenepuru LP (KLP), a joint venture between local Iwi Ngati Toa and Carrus Corporation, to help solve the affordable housing problem in the Wellington/Porirua area. As the lead consultant, Calibre assembled and managed the team for investigations, design and planning. Collaborating with Isthmus and Urban Perspectives, Calibre’s civil and structural team worked on the housing design and planning. Additionally, KLP has partnered with six different building companies who will build the houses and then purchase the lots. Many of these houses will sell in the KiwiBuild affordable category of $550,000, especially benefiting first-home buyers. This housing project supports Porirua CBD rejuvenation with improved amenities for all residents.
The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
