Wellbeing is something we take seriously at Calibre. Regardless of whether you’re out on site in a remote location or every day facing the urban bustle, your happiness, health, comfort and safety is a priority.
Passionate about raising awareness around mental illness, in July 2015 G&S Engineering launched the #HANDSUP initiative as part of an overarching Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
The initiative aims to provide mental health education, reduce stigma, promote and encourage help-seeking behaviours, equip management with tools and resources to assist their teams and promote positive job roles and working environments.
So far, the #HANDSUP campaign has centred around two short films, which focus on the mental wellbeing of employees, their family and friends. Filled with honesty and raw emotion, the films are aimed at raising awareness and encouraging people to take the first step in talking about how they are feeling.
Through creating a culture of sharing experiences and talking more openly, we can start to break the stigma associated with mental illness and empower more people to seek help and reach out to those around them.

Looking out for our communities
We understand that wellbeing extends beyond ourselves to the broader communities in which we live and work. Across the Calibre businesses, we are involved in supporting our communities, through sponsorship, fundraising, volunteer efforts, and our direct project work.
In June 2015, Diona aligned with batyr, pledging to raise one million dollars over five years for the for-purpose organisation, which focuses on preventative education in the area of youth mental health. batyr works with the young and is doing amazing work to destigmatise mental health issues here in Australia.
